Gaming social engine

Would you ever join a casual gaming network? Think facebook, but specifically for gamers. Would that be something that would ever hold your interest, or would you feel as if you're going overboard on social networks?

The reason I ask is because I may start funding this project to create a gaming social network. The aim of the site would be to gather like-minded people and connect them. People will be able to make groups (essentially they could be clans/guilds) and the engine would be very familiar to facebook. Facebook login may also be available for easier access.

Secondary aims for the site include meeting up either on- or off-line with friends you meet, read and post news or updates for your favorite games, and possibly attend future gaming events for meet ups.

Is that something you see yourself joining?

Social networking is popular, games are popular. I think if it was built cleanly and promoted right it could really get big. I'm not a big gamer so I probably wouldn't join, but social networking is where the traffic is nowadays.
