Definitely an extreme love/hate character, or seemed to be. But either way, you cannot deny that he wasn't a great soul singer. Was he the last great popular one - at least to cross racial lines?

George Michael was quite popular here during his time. His song Careless Whisper was a big hit that until now I have been hearing on the radio once in a while. From what I remember, he started in the duo Wham but he got popular when he turned solo.

David Bowie seems to have suffered the same fate, a weak liver, ruined by years of drug and maybe alcohol use.
