My forum currently ranks high for some on-topic keywords but not for most. we rank up there for "warrior cats rpg" but not "warrior cats" or "warrior cats game" how would I raise it up for the other keywords? "warrior cats" in particular i want to get higher up, that is a MUCH more commonly used search term but we are like on page 3 or further back for that. NOT good! XD

I advertise on many other sites, with the ads varying and all that, but always having good keywords in there.{But in a natural way, not repeating keywords etc} is there another way? cause nothing's changed in 2 years...

I normally update content on the news header and table too to keep us fresh, not only for the site's benefit, but also because i heard google crawls you more if you update your content. Still nothing changed...

I don't want to use "cheat" services to artificially raise my rank--don't want to get sandboxed. Plus with those techniques you don't get hits from people who would actually be interested in joining your game. I don't want aimless hits. I want to be more visible to people who would actually want to join my game.

You part of the Web Tower? 😉

But in all seriousness, you should look into some SEO tips. Meta tags help believe it or not. Add some key words to that.

I am on the web tower, actually. 😛 That was a clever idea btw although it may not be specific enough to get a lot of targeted hits, I have no idea actually that's just my impression and guess. But it IS cool looking at all those glittery little buttons XD

Thought meta tags didn't do anything for google anymore? I get like 80% of my hits from Google but I guess meta tags can't hurt if they still do something!

Thanks 🙂

Even if meta tags don't work with google (not sure if they do or not) other search services still use them. It definitely doesn't hurt to have a good meta tag list.

Whenever you link to a forum, anchor the text using the keyword you want to target, can specifically help with Keywords. Also, on the front page of your site, bold your targeted keywords, and have them separately in your Title.

:facepalm:
META KEYWORDS AREN'T USED BY GOOGLE! NOT meta description. Description is still very important.

The best way is just to get text links all over the place with the keywords that you want anchored.

Or pay Google for those keywords. =D

Read some tips on SEO.

http://forums.seo.com/ is a forum dedicated to this. I'm sure you can find something usefull there. It's a very active community that likes talking about porn seo.

I learned that META tags dont really matter anymore,
Rather:
<title>
<meta description>
<h1>
<h2>
<h3>
<b>
<a>

I'm beginning to get worried that my advertising runs would get us penalised. I don't even do those intending to raise search engine results and I never did. But the RPG sites all have a link exchange system that they all share, it arose all by itself over a few years. It's really useful for getting new people to see your board. I do a few hundred a month. The ads aren't set up for lots of keywords in there, they're just ads I made that I thought looked and sounded nice and promoted the site.

Also our affiliate section, that's basically a bunch of links, would THAT penalise us? I have 100 affiliates or even a few more now...

And after all this, I'm still the second result, on the second page, for the keywords I want. Exactly where I was last month. I just don't know what more I'm supposed to do without outright cheating. If I get more unique hits, does that raise your rank? I get slightly more when I do ad runs, for about a week, before it dies back down to where it was {and yes, I'm on the help boards helping anyone new who joins, our other staff help too.}

There's got to be something I've neglected to do. My site is still in a slump, it is persisting, we are at around 70% of where we were half a year ago.
