Getting a Blog Big?

Just follow common SERP techniques to start with. Just added 1-2 articles each say, constantly, and making sure each article has something new to add. Don't even think about promoting it yet. Its all about your SERP and optimizing your site so Google can index it, and get your site up there.

Volux, I'd agree with David, the most important thing you need to be doing right now is adding quality content to the blog. That's assuming, you've decided what your blog is about and who will be your target readers.

I disagree. Good promotion combined with ever changing content is a goldmine. I would say don't promote it bare... but a few articles is all you need. I would use quality keywords and anchor them to your link and have a go at it.

Make post's that are useful other than getting visitors going like, ''oh that was a good post, keep it up'', you want something like 50 - 200 words long if a comment then you know your keeping users interested. Also as David said and then when you get a few regular visitors just promote and treat it the way you would treat any other forum/website/blog.

I appreciate the comments. More please if anyone has any!

Get some quality back-links to your site, get your link on some high PR sites with good keywords, you will get indexed quicker and on the next PR update you should have a good one.

and update the site a few days a week, don't make it look dead because it will effect the site's rank etc.

Not really. All you need to do is put links in your sigs for the forums you post on, do exchanges, join random forums put a link in your sig, they will soon rack up.

Oh, question, there are a few design things you should take care of..

1) You have two rating systems? A star system and a "good/bad" rating system?

Also, the design is fine I guess for a basic forum, though get a good logo designed for it that flows with the design in my opinion.

Not much else to say, jsut wanted to bring that up.

I beg to differ if that's what you are only saying. Before promotion or webmaster sites, forums/websites/search engines/blogs did perfectly fine, and now they are probably some of the biggest sites today. Sometimes you don't even need to touch it, instead let a domain age, and once you get a SERP keyword of your liking, the domain age if at your advantage. BTW, I did say "Don't even think about promoting it yet". Once you get your quality content up, then you promote, or advertise, instead of the other way around.

It's not a forum. There is no logo, it's a header. Yes I am trying to thing of some way to take that star rating system off.

@dotdavid: I am trying to promote slow right now, just trying to get more content as well.

Yes you don't need to touch it if you have a great search engine friendly domain name. But a unique domain name like the one chosen by volux is going to be much harder to raise through the search engine rankings with age. The age does help, I would never say it doesnt, but you can help yourself until that age comes through with a good dose of quality advertising. That coupled with age, optimization, and content make a pretty strong case to search engines.

^^ Which is exactly what I said. Get content up and promote while still continuing to add more articles.

I'd say put on your facebook, youtube, and advertise it anywhere you can.
Even it that means just telling your friends about it.
Good Luck with your blog!

Sorry, I didn't mean to type "forum" I typed that at like 3:30 in the morning haha. Anyways, big deal if you have a header? If you know how to make PROPER logo's as headers, then it will be SEO friendly. You just need to know how CSS works 🙂

I use Wordpress, don't really too much about why I need to know CSS (I know some) to learn about headers? Not trying to get offensive here, but confused by what you mean by saying "Anyways, big deal if you have a header? If you know how to make PROPER logo's as headers, then it will be SEO friendly. "
Please clarify 😛

Just focus on articles, once your blog gets noticed it will rank for the articles, no linking or anything required. Just have unique content and write well constructed articles. Then get social media involved and start promoting.

I wrote about Cheryl Cole miming at the Brit Awards and was ranking first when the article was crawled, no promotion, no optimization. I just had point content and my traffic ten-folded.

Adding screencats now. I think it'll help more people to come. Agree?

Then I don't see why you were not concurring with me in the first place then, when you've just repeated what I said. 😉 *scratches head*
