Getting a high quality backlink from a reputable forum

Here's a little trick to get a high page rank backlink from a reputable forum. Simply register and post on the official support forum for your forum software. Usually, you will be allowed a signature linking back to the forum which uses the software. Just be sure not to post on a forum that does not support your forum software. So for instance, if you use SMF, don't post on the Xenforo forum as they won't appreciate backlinks to a competitor's software.

I already do this, but it's not really the most useful promotional 'technique' in the world. I mean, you get a link from a forum completely unrelated to your niche, which is neither great for SEO nor great for getting people from there to join.
