Hey guys well my forum is only 1 day old and ya I know I should be patient so sorry for this but this is my first time hosting / creating a forum. As of right now I only have 4 members and thank god cause they are all active members which is always great. Now I am updating my Myspace status and twitter status so the other non-members will go to the link and check it out and my god did they ever. More and more keep coming a long but I never get new members yet from them. Any tips?

Have you visited this topic:
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5786

There you can find other promotion forums that you can promote your forum on.

Make sure that any forum you go on, you put your link in your signature.

Here's a topic I just created:
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5786

Be sure to follow it and get advice as people reply to the thread.

I wish you luck,
Andy...

The visitors are most likely bot traffic from the twitter and myspace updates, so don't worry about it. Just provide unique content on your forum and you'll go far :great:

Lucky you, getting visitors...We get precious few guests. But as long as you are getting at least a few signups every so often and a new member who joins and posts regularly enough that th e forum isn't moving backwards then you should do okay, even if it takes a while.

It does take time and effort. Make sure that at every forum you join and post on you put your link in the signature. This will allow for users to find your link from other websites or forums.

See if you can submit your forum to Digg.com

I did that with my blog, and I did get some immediate traffic somehow (only noticed that through google analytics)

Just have faith in your forum and its members. And when it goes around hopefully a lot of active members start to show up.

I actually am facing the same thing. my forum gets lots of guests/visitors, but rarely I see someone registered. only once in a while, though. but don't let that make you down. especially since you've just started. things are always slow at the beginning. advertise it a lot, apply some advice and tips provided, and be patient. all great forums come from scratch and it takes years of them to be as successful as they are now. ^^

This ALWAYS happens to me. Visitors and members are totally different. Its normal for things like this to happen. Just take FP as an example. You cant just expect EVERYONE to sign up!

If you have a good look and layout with unique content and services or contests you will turn the visitors into members.
