It has been kind of hard getting members for my new Auto Forum.... It seems as if nobody really has a interest for auto stuff and cars....... Does anyone here have suggestions on how I can target people? It just seems like things are going slow......

A lot of people here are young so they don't have cars. I'm getting my license next month so might end up registering then though 🙂

But anyhow to help you out... post on forums and blogs similar to yours. Google car blogs and just make good quality comments on them every day with your link enabled like it usually can be with wordpress. Make like 5 posts a day on some large car forum and keep your link in your sig. Basically anything to get your target audience to see the site.

I'd also consider getting a domain name, some unique and catchy instead of the name you have got at the moment. Even a .co.cc would be sufficient enough just now.

Yup that domain name is definitely a turn off for some. Not hard at all to get at least a .info for $1.99 from elephantmurder.com Godaddy nah screw it $3 at namecheap and their service is a lot better. Price of a McDonalds burger.

Just promote, promote, promote! Work hard at it and you will get there someday. Don't think you're over promoting because you're not. Do as many exchanges as you can. Order some FP services.

Seems his problem is not a lot of people on here have big interests in cars. In his case advertising on other sites will be much more helpful than on a promotion board 😉.

Google cant even find your forum.
Which is a good reason for him to go and get a domain name. Sub Domains can still get indexed but it's a lot harder.

Guys, All of my domains are .com's. lol. I will upgrade to a .com soon, Thats not the problem, and google can find my forum, I even had google bots already....

Getting Members Is Hard
It is hard. Even though I try to bump my advert topics and look for other ways to promote on a regular basis, sometimes my member count does not budge for weeks at a time. Good thing there is the regulars there. Without them it would be pretty lonely. 😛

Best advice is not to let it get you down. Sometimes they come in swarms and sometimes one at a time over time. Thats just the way it goes.

With some forum niches, promotion forums just don't cut it, even if you do have a domain. Your best bet is to add your link on signatures on forums that are the same genera as yours if you're allowed to (check the rules or ask the owner first!) and maybe if you have some real life friends who are into cars and automobiles, perhaps ask them to join and make a few posts as well.

I think you should make a website, (like a blog or something like that), so that then you can link back to your forum, which will drive traffic. Try not to make it look like spam, otherwise people won't join. But you'll have to promote it as well.

Also you should make banners so that your members can put it on their website so it gets traffic too.

Good luck with your forum! 🙂
