Getting members

Many people ask How do you get members? What I say is: Keep trying! What helps is to keep adding topics yourself so when people DO come, they will see that it's active. What I found out, people don't like to create the topics themselves. Even in the General Section, get some discussions going.
It's hard to have a unique niche. Mine is the same way being Holistic. If I wanted to get members & be active, I had to compromise & add on more General Sections.
I love doing Post Exchanges. Even if it's not for the niche per se, it helps the forum look more active & people will be more apt to join. 🙂

I've always struggled as I suck at promoting anything.
Being on Admin & Promotion forums are the only thing that's helped.

Social media just snobs their noses up at it. Especially Facebook users.

Offering incentives for posting is one of the best ways to get members and regular posters on your site. In order to sustain this model, your site also needs to earn some revenue. Otherwise, you will end up spending a lot of money.

It's not always easy to be able to get new members that is for sure but ways that I have found that help you get new members and keep them around and active is to offer incentives for being active and posting, setting up contests such as a top poster of the month with a prize at the end or even member with the most referrals to the forum seem to work quite well. Ensuring that you have fresh content daily on your forums as well really helps so that there is always something new for them to interact with.
