Though I've quit the forum business, I'm wondering if you guys have any tips for getting more followers or exposure on Twitter. I'm not looking to get famous or anything, but I want to have other people to talk to.

I haven't seen any significant results from this, but I've just thought of posting one Tweet a day (Usually in the afternoon, as recommended by an article I read.) and seeing what happens. However, I'm sure my Twitter profile could have some more work done to it.

So, is there any advice you can give?

I'm not sure what advice to give. All I know is that some people buy their followers. To earn them, I'm not exactly sure, to be honest. Maybe start retweeting others' tweets, and posting on others' Twitter profiles.

Anyways, good luck with your Twitter experience!

There are two pieces of advice I can give you. Firstly, never give up. Secondly, advertise it. I wish you luck with your twitter account! 🙂

I forget what the original was, but I changed it to that username because:
1) I liked Pascal from Tales of Graces at the time
2) I have a strange attraction to catfish.

Another thing I remember reading is that posting pictures helps. So I could post screenshots of funny or odd stuff I see in games or anime.

Twitter sucks for conversions. I don't think ive had 1 registeration from Twitter. I always end up with 60+ Guest once I end up tweeting something. Never any registered members.

The biggest key, like with any kind of advertising, is finding people who are interested in what you're trying to promote. Unfortunately, a lot of people are only on Twitter to socialize with friends, and there's no real way to know what they're into. If you can find other Twitter accounts within your niche, you can follow them and their followers and potentially find other users who would be interested in your site! 🙂

If you follow others they usually follow back and you will pick up random followers in the process that somehow see your page and follow.

Also, retweet and mention people in tweets. People tent to favorite or re-tweet when they are mentioned and that will get your page circulating more.

I think many business have great success using Twitter so I'm glad you posted this. I know someone who knows how to use Twitter to their advantage will comment on this sooner or later. (hopefully!)

I have a question too... how do people post a short link instead of the actual link so it doesn't take away from the count as much as each tweet is limit to 140 characters? e.g. ti.me/1b7pF34 instead of http://time.com/3836772/the-good-wife-r ... departure/

Anyone know?

Usually a link shortener, like this one: https://goo.gl/ or this one: https://bitly.com/. There are a lot of them out there, but those two are most commonly used.

One of the best way to get more Twitter followers is by searching different hash tags that you're interested in and respond to tweets that people have made using them. That will sometimes get that specific person to follow you. Also, the more you interact with your followers, more people are probably going to follow you as well.

I'm pretty positive that no matter how long the link is, it still counts for the same amount of characters as Twitter has a URL shortener built in to it's system.
