Yep, in hopes of attracting some new members and posts I am actually raffling off 8GB 1600 RAM on January 1st. The only restriction is that you must live in the US and we must have at least 10 participants... 4 or 5 already participating!

more details on my forum

Look forward to seeing you, as I would really like for the first giveaway to happen!

RAM Sticks have different models for every computer. Is the RAM stick that you are giving away already bought?

RAM as a prize is not to good. Every computer requires different RAM.

Some need DDR,DDR2, or DDR3. Not to mention the PC rating....

Heck some people are still using RIMM instead of DIMM...

So if the person wins has ddr2 and you are giving away a ddr3 set it will not work. I think instead of giving ram as a prize you should give the money you would use to pay for the ram as the prize.

Not yet bought, and they're not as different as you made it sound.

As he said, its not yet bought. So it could be any type

I hear you, but prizes don't always have to line up with EVERYones needs... and staying with the times means giving away DDR3, not dated(ing) items. Speeds don't have to match. I'm also trying to attract those with an interest in the genre, not anyone wanting a gift certificate.

So really, what are you suggesting?

That is quite silly, since not everyone is up to date. So you are only hurting yourself.

As for speeds not having to match,no they don't have to match, but they do have to be supported by the motherboard. You can't use a pc3200 on a motherboard that only supports pc2100.

Who said anything about a gift certificate  ?

Yes you can.
And you said to give away the money, a gift certificate is practically cash.

I'm thankful for your input, but like I said earlier you can't accommodate everyone, besides, it's free and no one is holding a gun to anyone's head.

If I was giving away DDR2, you would be complaining that it's not DDR3, wouldn't you?
