Would giving away free E-book/PDF Documents download which you custom written be a good way to promote your forum or website if the E-book topic is related to your website topic?
I notice some websites mostly internet marketing blogs give away free ebook downloads to promote their blogs and affiliate links when you read the E-book with a PDF reader.
I made an SEO one about a year ago and then distributed it through DigitalPoint. I was getting over 1000 Uniques a week (new blog) which was amazing. I had done no other advertising, and that was my only source of traffic. All was direct, and I had a paid copy of the PDF with distribution rights which sold too.
I saw them spread across DP like mad (after I closed the free download thread), so in effect, yes. They are very good for promotion.
