Do you use global announcements a lot?

Th only things I have in global announcements are my forum rules, the privacy policy, and an about the forum thread. For other things I prefer to keep forum specific stickies but even those I like to limit to a certain amount to not have things cluttered.

Isn't that just a phpBB thing? 😛

...Or do you mean those notification banners that hover over the forum index and thread pages?

I am pretty sure she is meaning the banners that hover over the forum index.

I don't use them a lot. I have only used them two or three times on my forum. I use them to announce contests, etc.

I use them when I want my members to know something that is important.

I've used them frequently on forums I had an arcade on. They were very useful as a lot of members wouldn't bother to read their PMs or emails but the announcement at the top of the page made a difference.

I don't think the feature exists in Xenforo, but we use the navbar to list the rules, as for contests, details are provided in ad boxes that display on the top of the forum. For sectional rules and guides, they're kept as stickies in their appropiate sections.
