I have a gmail email account that I set up the auto forwarding to go to my main gmail email. I went through the steps, did the confirm and all that and the pink banner shows up, showing that my email should be forwarding. Except, it's not forwarding.
How have you tested this out? As far as I know if you try and test this method by sending from one gmail account to gmail account two it doesn't work as Gmail is set up to drop duplicate emails? You'd need to test it from say another mail source to inbox 1 and then see if it forwards to inbox 2 if that makes sense?
