Gmail forever Beta?

They never seem to like to finish anything before they move their attention to another project.

Because having something as BETA isn't quite as simple as looking at a software and saying "this is good, this needs improving, we need to code thing part a different way".

The other thing with keeping it as a BETA is that people can't then complain about problems that might come up. If Google were to release it as a completed project and then someone finds a huge security hole in it, what is that going to say about Google? ~wink~

What does it say about Google if they are scared to complete something? It shows that they have no confidence in their work being good and secure -lol-

I don't think that's entirely true. It's better to take your time with something and make sure it's completely complete rather than release it just to get rid of some [Beta] prefix ~wink~

How long has Gmail been Beta? -razz-

I have heard of taking time to make sure something is good but that is surely taking the biscuit.

Well let's take a look at what Google are currently running:

Let's see if you have time to take Gmail out of BETA with all that going on ~wink~ . Google have adopted a good marketing strategy by getting lots of products and services out there and keeping them in BETA rather than only releasing one or two every few years and making them the final release.

I have no problem with it being in BETA and probably agree with your points but surely they would have spent more time on the gmail for example before releasing all other sorts of things.

Good question i have always wondered this, funny enough was thinking about it earlier when i logged in to check my email. To be honest though there are lots of progs still in beta that you would of thought had turned the corner by now.

It has been in beta stages for some time but as long as it's working then I'm happy. ~razz~
