Searched Godaddy today to find a domain for a second site of mine to find .com domains are now £6.33, as opposed to the £5.44 we're used to.

The 12% rise follows VeriSign's (the company that provide domain registrations for godaddy) decision to increase the price of wholesale .com domains. Other registrars are also feeling the effect of wholesalers increasing domain prices. eNom (the second largest domain provider) have also increased their prices, leading to an approximate 25 pence increase on their domains.

It's not known exactly why the prices have been bumped up, my only guess is supply and demand. .com domains are becoming rarer and rarer with large companies automatically registering them seconds after they have been searched for.

What are your thoughts on this?

Do I love it? No. Can I live with it? Yeah. Prices will always change and adjust. We may not like it, but as anyone else in anyother market, we will have to adjust our sites and services to suit the prices of domain names. It really isnt a big increase. Think of truck drivers and the gas prices, those that can manage get along, and those that cant quit.

Besides, if this really bugs you, buy a .net -roll-

Firstly, I am not bothered by it. I can afford £1 rise in domain cost. Secondly, .net is just as expensive as .com . .info is the cheapest option 😉

Everything is increasing in price so it comes as no surprise to be honest.

Anyway it is only a £1 which is nothing really if you think about it as it is just £1 extra a year which is like less then 2p (4 cents) a week extra.

I don't mind it. Godaddy's domain service is pretty good. I like 1and1 service, too.

GoDaddy has been my registrar/host since Sept. 8th, 2004, sure I get alot of e-mail offers, but with more space than I will probably
ever use, and a reasonable price.

My 2 cents on .cc, .tv., and .info, those are the most-used by
scams.

I've never used GoDaddy before, and I'm not sure if I ever will, LOL. I currently use Name.Com & NameCheap.com for my domain needs, and so far I'm loving them! XD
