Hey,

the laptop im using is a school laptop (which i can take home since i paid a small amount which was part of the deal)

Anyway, since some things are restricted it is a Acer Aspire it does the job for now.. But i want to own a laptop completly

What are some cheap and good deals of long lasting laptops?

Im looking for an acer atleast (Model aspire if its not an asipire atleast its acer)

You are never going to get a cheap acer that lasts. Acer computers may be good in some ways but you have to spend a lot to get one that is worth it. Get something that is more robust like a HP. A problem you are going to have all the way is that the words cheap, quality and long lasting don't often describe the same product when it comes to computers

Ive looked at mac, Mac looks great only issue is some programs might not work Like im currently learning C++ & Windows programming, But it was a good idea.

So how about a toshiba i had one a few years ago, What are they like now?

Now they striped my admin rights away?? what right do they have todo that...

A Laptop without an operating system, or a free operating system like Ubuntu Linux, Linux Mint, etc will be cheapest since you won't need to pay for the operating system like Windows or Mac.

Plus, Ubuntu Linux can run on older or less powerful computer hardware.

You can also dual-boot Ubuntu Linux with Windows by setting up Ubuntu Linux to dual boot with Windows by using the Windows Ubuntu Installer found on the install CD, or by starting your PC from the Ubuntu install CD, and picking to install Ubuntu linux along side Windows, other versions of Linux.

You can get a copy of the Ubuntu install CD at http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop

Then I might be able to Install windows myself from there, There is a second hand Laptop that comes with Windows Vista only $120? That sounds good..

I will look on ebay for Linux based computers soon..

Only issue with Linux is everything is built for windows only like Motzila, Camtasia etc..

-- September 22nd, 2012, 7:45 pm --

I may be buying this computer secound hand http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-LATITUDE-L ... 3ccab3bf43

Is that good? its only $120 and my budget to get a $1000 pc will take along time, Atleast this will keep me accessing the internet etc..

The one i will be getting is from A PawnBrokers it comes with Windows Vista and a 30?Gb HardDrive but i can replace the hard drive and put windows 7 onit?

It doesent have a camera nor a internal mic but would it possible to buy these external it wont make much of a diffrence?

If you want something that lasts then save up and buy a computer, don't buy a second hand one. Any computer with Vista and is for sale for that little usually means trouble...

I know the guy that owns the shop, I would save up but it takes along time.. And by that time my YouTube Channel will stop gaining viewers..

and how is vista trouble? lol

Vista is one of the worst OS ever produced, I would suggest you do a little more research before you go out and buy any laptop.

Yeah i have heard of vista being the worst ever Operating System Microsoft has ever made, Thats why as soon as i get it I will be using my windows 7 installaiton disk and installing windows 7.

Linux Mint, and Ubuntu Linux are starting to have more compatible software for it. I use Ubuntu Linux for Firefox, Google Chrome, watching video, listening to music, uploading files to my website, and office work, and it works for me.

I use Windows Vista on a old laptop with 4GB of RAM and an AMD dual-core CPU. Although, start up times are slower for Vista. Although, Vista is still a usable operating system for Skype, FileZilla, OpenOffice, Firefox, etc in my experience. Windows also release a lot of updates for Vista making it more stable, and slightly faster when it was first release in 2007.

Vista was ok..
Is it a good idea to get the dell latitude second hand? im wiping the HDD And installing windows 7 or linux anyway. Hard to tell how old the laptop is.

I might try linux but there's no local server compatiblity like WAMP or XAAMP is there??

The above is made for ubuntu so if you use a different distro just google how to setup a lamp server for distro name.

I finally bought the computer and upgraded to windows 7 i managed to get it for half price.
