I'm pondering over a few options which might or might not be good for donations:
Patreon - Patreon has faced a lot of controversy as of late, particularly regarding freedom of speech and freedom of expression when they terminated accounts of people with political opinions they didn't really particularly like and didn't communicate these requirements beforehand.
I'm not too familiar with the story, but I'm slightly hesitant to do business with a company that does things like this.
Some of the benefits of it include potentially insulating myself from some of the problems which normally plague Paypal like chargebacks (?) and it helps to disconnect specific brands from a Paypal account without setting up business accounts with their own associated rates.
It however has some of the same problems with Paypal which I'll describe below as it still uses it as it's fundamental payment engine.
Cryptocurrencies - They have a significant amount of controversy with as much as a billion dollars worth of currency being stolen in 2018 alone (might need a more credible source for this point) by scammers and criminals.
It would be deeply concerning for me, if my users were to have their money stolen by being led towards it as an option for transferring money and there could be issues with the police due to it's associations with crime and would create a headache I really don't want to deal with, even if the police visit is resolved.
Paypal - The golden standard, although not necessarily good in all situations. If you get too many chargebacks (aka people ringing their bank to say they never made a payment), then it could result in your account being terminated and they have some major difficulties in some countries.
They can also be all sorts of a headache to deal with.
There may also be other options which I haven't thought of.
