Good forum ideas?

Hey guys, I've been thinking about starting a forum. As I have a spare paid forum software, and I don't want to have it go to waste. It will have a free domain for a bit before I buy a paid domain, so I don't waste my money. What are some good topics for a forum that will get good members and posts?

No site is going to succeed if you do not have an interest in the topic. You can not let someone else pick your forum for you.

Find something that you have an interest and knowledge in... and go for it. Try to dig down though and really narrow down the point of interest.

I would chose something you are interested in, no matter what it is. Your passion will greatly help drive the forum forward. I have seen forums on really narrow topics (specific game, fishing in a certain region etc) succeed just because the admin had a real passion for the topic. Find something you are passionate in and make a forum about it 😉.

I would do that, guys, but I just can't think of something. I need people to suggest, and then I might find something I have an interest in on one of the topics.

Are you maybe interested in:
- Gaming ?
- Computer stuff (Hardware/Software, Hosting, Development...) ?
- Sports ?
- Cars ?

Give us something to work with here it is hard to figure out without your help.
In the worst case, and I really don't recommend it, you could try a general discussion forum, but be warned those are very hard to promote and make active. Good Luck 😀

Sure you can. What do you do in your free time? What subjects interest you? What do you daydream about?
