Good Friday

I'm a Christian, I don't go to church or anything though. I didn't even know what Good Friday was for. :S

Good Friday for me is = worked 4 hours today (got paid for 8) :cheer:

True dat. 😛 How can someone dying be good, well I suppose he died for US.

This is only for those that are wacky in celebrating weird holidays.

So since this has nothing on me what so ever, I am eating normally like I always do.

Wacky and weird holidays? You can be a bit more considerate for other FPers here.

No, not really 😕

Yet it is a wacky and weird holiday... think about it eh? You can't eat meat, though it's been a few hundred years since meat was considered a luxury (the reason why you give it up, by the way... lent after all). If you really want to get into detail, it's a DEAD holiday, considering every year the number of people celebrating it is declining.

More and more people, much like myself, are wondering why this even exists. You don't need to be off work to "remorse" the death of a "god" (or son of I suppose). I'm sure you could fit in a prayer or two on a lunch break

*Noms Meat*

Being an atheist rocks!

P.S.
I understand why you guys are doing it and I have no problem with it. I do find this event a little interesting on how people are willing to loose such a thing for a brief moment.

And yet lets see how much hate someone would say if a Jewish or Muslim holiday is wacky and weird...
Just because something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean everyone thinks the same as you.

Go Gimgak!

And I totally agree, as a Christian comments like that are insulting.

I'm not sure what you mean by "hate" - I treat everyone the same regardless of religion, because personally speaking I don't think it matters what one thinks, as long as one CAN think :great:

I'm completely aware that others don't always agree on things or have the same level of understanding, check ym signature disclaimer. We live in a world where by default you are born free to think freely, and then regulations we as humans have created puts an end to that. Controlist governments limit your creativity, and organized religions limit your moral standards and force "weird and wacky" rules in order for you to be in their exclusive "group", much like a cult really 🙂

I may not understand why different religions impose the rules they do, but that doesn't mean I disrespect their members, it just means I choose not to part take in their activities

I'm Catholic, just came back from Church actually. Glad to have the day off. It's high 70's, the first beautiful day in New York 🙂

PS: If I get fed up with the flaming in this topic I'm sending out warning PMs to each user involved and locking this topic, understood?

As far as i'm aware, there hasn't actually been any flaming taken place...? There really shouldn't be either, if you don't belong to a religion that doesn't give you any right to disrespect people who are, and vis-versa.

Addition to my above post: To me any organization that diminishes those who do not belong to it is a cult. Christianity claims that those who aren't part of them will go to hell, and thus counts as diminishment to me.

Heard of it, don´t celebrate it and don´t care about it, just a usual day for me. But still happy good friday! 😛

Alright, well I don't want un-considerate things said.

No matter how much you bash someone about their religion and "whacky" holidays, is it really going to change what they believe in or what they do? I don't get the point of sitting here and arguing over something that is believed by millions, then not believed by millions. There is no point in arguing or trying to prove each other wrong.
