Good idea to remove "nofollow" for Wordpress comment links?

I use a plugin I downloaded at http://www.semiologic.com/software/dofollow/ to make all my Wordpress Blog comment links dofollow instead of Nofollow since it might make people comments more since they will be getting some link juice from my blogs.

Plus, sometimes I comment on my own blogs with a different link then my blog's link in hopes of getting some clicks from visitors + link juice to my other sites.

Are there any downsides of making comment links dofollow?

The only downside I see is giving competitors who comment get link juice, and increase in spammy comments.

I can't honestly say there are any big downsides to using dofollow links; I'd say they are overall just the better route to take. If people comment on your blog and realize that you don't use nofollow, they'll probably come back more often as a regular visitor.

The thing about blogs is that even competitors can help each other out without hurting each other too much - it's more close-knit than it is when you have two forums that are competitors.
