Ever post a good thread that got no attention? How do you handle this problem?

Let the topic die? Bump it? Delete it and repost it?

I think this thread answered your question. 😛 No response in 14 days, so it just died 😛

Bumping and reposting it to possibly get more attention would always work. Otherwise, I just assume it's not popular enough to get a response.

Try bumping it once, if its still dead then delete it , wait some time and repost it . If its still dead its something that members don't take any interest in.

You should bump it and look at the views your thread gets. If your thread has lots of views and no replies, then I guess people are just not interested in your topic. If your thread has not many views then, I guess the members are just not bothered.

It annoys me when someone bumps an unanswered thread, especially when they seem annoyed or irate over the thread not being answered. There are lots of reasons a thread might have gone unnoticed, so just bump if allowed but do it in a nice way.

If you own the forum, you could use one of your alternate accounts to post an answer to the thread, which would have the same effect as bumping it.

Usually other posts can burry the topic and people just simply didn't see it. Its an innocent thing to happen but people often don't think about it that way.

 I noticed that, I was wondering if people didn't reply just to be ironic / funny.

Anyway, when this happens to me, I usually just delete the topic and post it again during peak hours. 9 times out 10 new people will see it and reply. Success!

:cheer:

Bumping it is good idea. I'll rather delete it after 24 hours.

Instead of deleting the topic or reposting it, you could always add some additional details to the thread with a followup post. A followup post would bump the thread, add more to the thread / the discussion, and might get people to engage.

Double posting? ...my forum merges double posts so posting in it again wouldn't bump it to the top anyway.

Ah. Well, my idea wouldn't work with your forum then, haha.
