Does anyone have some good ways to secure my Linux VPS I use to host my forum?

I know installing firewalls like CSF helps, which I will do, along with using a web application firewall.

Utilize CSF and change the SSH port you run SSH on for your server. Also, enable CPHulkD to prevent brute forces in cPanel.

Those are a few good things you can do to "secure" your VPS.

No cPanel ($15 for a VPS Optimized license from my host? No thank you).

I totally forgot about the SSH thing. I'll do that now.

This is going to be an interesting read for me. My mate set up the VPS as I know f*ck all about them, and with no cPanel to make it easier (priced an extra £100, what a joke) I have no clue what to do. 😛

Dont use solosvm admin panel, it was recently exploited/hacked.

Its still paid-for software, I'd rather not use it after that.
