This probably isn't anything new, but I'd like to spread to word to those who don't know.

Yes, Google can actually parse JavaScript, although this doesn't mean that you shouldn't have a non-JS fall-back for things like Discordbot, Twitterbot, users who disable JavaScript, pages which are broken by Adblock, etc.

Yeah. IIRC they use a headless browser to render the page, then crawl it in a way more similar to how a user actually interacts with a site. They can index single page apps written in immersive JS frameworks like Angular or React.
