Google Domains & Hosting

I've already purchased two domains from Google, both of whom I have pointing to Blogger blogs, which are hosted via Google’s servers for free.

You can have a domain with google, and have it pointing to a folder in Google Drive (also free,) if you want free HTML/Javascript web hosting. Its fast, there is no bandwidth limit, and it eliminates cost.

The only drawback is that it doesn't support SQL or any .NET, so you can't host forums on Google Drive.

Google is now selling domains (in a beta) and some form of hosting as well.

Would you buy a domain from Google?

I think I will notice it if the hosting is good

Gweb.io is not working right now, (as of about 3 days ago,) unfortunately, so the tutorials won't work without it. Sorry. 😕

If you start a blog on blogger.com, Google will host it for free. After making your blog, they will keep pestering you about buying a top-level domain from Google for $12. Once you buy it, it becomes the domain name of your blog. For example:

http://www.ragepro.blogspot.com (Before buying domain from Google)
http://www.ragepro.net (After buying domain from Google.)

If you already have a domain from another DNS (Domain Name Service,) you can have it point to your blog.

I don't think I would buy domains or hosting from Google at this moment because they are still in beta stages and they may still be trying to work things out. Once I see some good reviews, I would definitely consider them.

It sounds great but I would be worried about support-like how most everything is forum support based which I don't necessarily like. If they had email, support ticket, etc type support I would consider them for future domains.

I am staying with namecheap, they will be probably get eaten by google anyway so why would I want to a transfer for a fee when I am going to get it for free in a few years lol.

Well on a serious matter, Google not done guffed. Who wants to bet with me Google will own the internet by 2050 😀 ?
