Hmm, I don’t know which is a bigger monopoly at this point: Google or the EU. 😛
Generally I have a lot more sympathy for companies that build trusts with their own merits, rather than buying them with money. Google built an awesome product. Is it their fault that it became successful? Is it their fault that they want to integrate it with their stuff? It would be completely different though if they, say, bought Apple’s iPhone business and established a grim corporate hegemony that charged exhorbitent fees to even use a smartphone.
