It sometimes appears that Google bans you when you've made a nice large figure, but its actually the time they have to process each account. By the time you've accumulated quite a bit of money, they ban you, and so it looks as if they are banning you right at that point.

OK. On day 1, I go and set up my Adsense account. On day 2, I click my own ad. The time between clicking and banning is the processing of accounts and even so, they may not have checked your account yet. There are thousands of accounts which need to be processed and that does take a lot of time. So, that processing time will be lengthy and by then, you'd probably already made about $50 and then they ban you. It appears to the normal user as Google banning you when you have a high amount, which of course, is not true.

From what people at the Amazon boards say, the problem with Google banning accounts is that they don't tell you why, and some of their guidelines are extremely vague.

I use Adbrite and Amazon.

Congrats Clover! I have ads on my site, and with the low incoming traffic I still have managed to get 25$ this month alone. I never heard of google banning accounts before, that is weird.
