How do you increase a forums google ranking, I can't even find mine listed when I google "man utd forums"

Google says my page rank is "0"

Any help/advice would be much appreciated
 
1. Use keywords, you've got a picture in your signature, add a link with alt text targetting your keywords, it'll increase your SERP.

2. PR is pointless now, don't bother with it, google is phasing it out. If you really want PR just get unique content and lots of backlinks/links in, but as I said it's not important anymore.

Focus on SERP not PR.

That's ok, but you should learn this stuff, it really helps as Search engines (especially google) are probably the main sources of traffic to majority of forums.

The problem I've encountered though is that you get a different view from oeveryone you talk to, even when reading what pro SEO companies say, so who do you believe ?

The actual Google instuctions are a maze of links which make it very difficult to keep to one subject, it's a minefield.
 
Haha, well search "Forum Promotion" on google, go to the 2nd page find the 3rd link and tell me what link that is 😉
 
Type in "brawl forum" and tell me what pops up close on the first page 😛

Having a banner is very pretty and eye catching in your sig, but there's always plenty of room to add an "anchor text" link as well.

See, just above my banner, "Find Brawl Opponents, now!" that's my anchor text. The more you use that, on more forums, the better chances those key words get indexed so "others" searching for related content might come across your site.

What exactly is your forum about. What is Man utd? A sport, an event?

Thats very good advice, but if you try this on other football forums you tend to get links deleted, or you get banned, it seems football forums are very protective of members, and spamming as they call this is frowned upon.
 
There are many sports forums that let you where anything in your sig. You don't just have to post on sports forums. Anywhere you post, that has that link and anchor text will still be used by Google.

Wouldn't you rather have a high spot on google searches? Rather than posting tirelessly on a related site "hoping" someone might actually click your sig.

I don't post on only "Brawl" or gamning forums much. I find big sites, about ANYTHING, check their PR. And if it's a PR2 or higher, I'll be actively posting, wearing my sig, and building my backlink.

As I have said this is a very steep learning curve, and I am learning more each day, most of it from this site I must add.
As an ex MOD on a football site where we were encouraged to delete siggies with links embedded, I was under the impression it was a no-no on all forums.
I've taken you advice and by siggie now contains a link and anchor text 😎

Anyway hcf is right, which is what I was trying to explain to you, but seems he makes it clearer for you, so have fun mate and good luck with your rankings :great:
