Google today launched an "early preview" of Dart, a programming language the company hopes will help Web application programmers overcome shortcomings of JavaScript that Google itself feels acutely.

Read About It!

I guess Google is really trying to take over the internet.

Can't wait to learn more about "Dart".

Doesn't look to hard, the tutorial is good too!

I can wait as it will be a useless made thing from Google just like Google + 🙂

Amen.

Brilliant!

This'll be useful for people looking to get freelance work, it doesn't look too complex and if it gets supported widely, it'll be invaluable.

again? i hardly learn the Go programming language 😀

I'm totally against it. A lot of people designers/programmers have worked hard to get to where they are now. And now they are releasing a new programming language that will take a month to master? Soon everyone will be programming and companies like Adobe will be going out of business.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this. I completely trust Google with this kind of project.

Also, I just began learning HTML, CSS, and Javascript, so it'll be interesting to see if Dart really does provide a superior alternative to JS.

Just like Google itself and Gmail, Adsense, Analytics, Maps, Android. I have to agree everything Google makes is useless

I can't wait until it is out. 🙂

Google + useless? I guess thats why the user amount has basically tripled since it was in private testing.

Dart is a great idea and I would love for it to finally kill javascript.. However I doubt it will 🙁.

Welcome to the world of computers. When you spend years and you finally master something, it gets old and something new comes out. :shake:
This.

I doubt Dart will have much of an impact. I doubt FF will support it for awhile. IE will take 9001 years to release Dart support. Pretty much: Run a site about Google Chrome? Use Dart!

Seriously.

In other news I don't think (I am not sure about this.) that Dart has WebGL bindings. Meaning no HTML5+Dart.

Also I think that Dart processes slower than JS, because I read once that Dart interprets into ECMAScript/JavaScript. JavaScript, on the other hand, goes directly into Assembly and then Binary these days.

I'll be sticking to JavaScript until FF, Safari, and Opera support Dart and JavaScript. Then I'll consider switching but I probably won't because too lazy for another language.

Hm, I have read that post about a 1,000 times and i can't for the life of me figure out how Adobe plays into this. Tell me, how is web programming close to client programming?

Think about it instead of trying to make me look like a fool as you have been trying to do in all of my posts. Do you have something against me or something? :shake:

If they have already developed a "super-easy" web programming language, it's only a matter of time before they do the same for applications.

There is nothing stopping 'everybody' from being programmers right now. All the resources are available on the Internet, hundreds (probably more) programming support forums and numerous courses on programming.

I can guarantee that no programming language will take only a month to master, apart from maybe scripting languages like Javascript but even then it is a bit of a stretch, especially with no previous programming knowledge. This is especially true with OOP languages (like this one is turning out to be, though probably in a smaller scope like Python opposed to C++) because there are such complex concepts to learn, such as polymorphism and inheritance.

However, in the off chance that I am wrong, then boo-freaking-hoo. Getting more skilled programmers when there are a shortage of them, having simpler code that will likely improve quality, needing only a month of training to get right into projects? Well hot damn that is such a terrible thing for everybody!

As for companies going out of business, I would like to see some kind of statistics or source material that would even suggest that. If anything, it will improve them because they will have more skilled employees, not to mention we'll end up with more (and hopefully better quality) products if it becomes that easy. Even so, programming is not going to become a 'thing everybody does' overnight -if ever considering they could do it now - so the jobs are still going to be present for quite some time.

Because Facebook totally doesn't need a strong competitor to slap them in the face right now.
