I have a Graphic Design Forum and I'm finding it hard to get Graphic Designers signing up.

Any advice on where I can advertise without coming across as 'spammy' would be great. We've held various SOTW which have done okay thanks to some post exchangers however, we're lacking activity in competitions. I even ran a Userbar Competition for a $5 prize which didn't bring in activity. I'm not asking for my Forum to flood with hundreds of members but I really would like a few genuine graphic designers there sharing their work and resources etc.

The Skin on the forum looks really good, I worked really hard on designing it. Anish, the Co-Admin worked very long hours custom coding it.

Using proboards could be part of the cause. It's one reason why I won't join. But I can get past that.
Probably the biggest one is that the theme isn't that easy on the eyes. You are using very contrasting colors and it's overloading. It's distracting me from the content.

And besides, you seem to have a nice amount of activity.
