If I were to buy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... =u00000687

Note: I have a 300 watt PSU

Would you suggest I get a 500-600 watt PSU to support it better?

I'm trying to get a PSU and graphics card for xmas, but I have to come up with some legit reasons as the WHY I need the PSU with the card. The card is a Yes, but why the PSU? I have heard because it will better support the card, but any other good reasons?

Yes, that card looks like it uses a lot of power, so getting a 500-600W PSU would be better.

A better PSU will provide more stable power, so you can over clock the card more, and most quality PSU also have 120mm cooling fans on the bottom, so your computer might also be better cooled.

Newer PSU also has the power plugs needed to plug into your PCI-Express video card without the need for a 4 pin to 6 pin PCI-Express power adapter.

I been pretty happy with Cooler Master PSU since they are inexpensive, work well, and haven't failed me.

If you are on a budget, you can buy this PSU by Cooler Master for only 35 bucks.

It is a 460W power supply which is not 500W, but has most of the features a typical buyers is looking for like SATA power adapters, PCI-Exprss supported, and enough power adapters.

I would get a 600WT as it does have a 500W Minimum System Power Requirement.

I agree, Cooler Master is a very good brand! I use 600 Watts Cooler Master for my xfx 6790 1GB 🙂

it depends to the software you will constantly use in your computer. if you will be playing games, photoshop and etc.. it might be better to buy good psu.

I think hardware power drain from CPU, Hard drive, RAM, Video card, fans, motherboard, Expansion cards and optical drive should be your main concern when buying a good PSU.

I never really heard of software making a power supply not have enough watts to power the computer.

Anyways, your OCZ power supply you pick should be enough power for your needs.

That coolermaster is $35. Probably get what it's worth. I see reviews that say it stops working after periods of time.

Indeed, the CoolerMaster is probably better to replace a broken PSU on a Dell, Acer, HP, and other low to mid priced computer, and older Gaming computers which don't have a high power drain.

But, maybe the people who left poor reviews just had bad luck, and got defective power supply because of a quality control problem, or bad luck.

I been using a Cooler Master 400W PSU for over 2 years to replace a old HP power supply, and it been working well for me.
