What type of software is mostly used when creating forum rank banners? Do you guys use a premium downloaded software or a free downloadable/online software? I'm interested in trying to make some of my own forum rank banners, but unfortunately, I'm not sure what the best software would be to do so.

To be honest I think most professional designers are using Photoshop and Illustrator. I have tried using GIMP, which is fine, but I stick with PS.

For banners you can get away with someting like Canva. Just add the width/height and go from there. It's free to use. For more sophisticated stuff, you'll need GIMP or Photoshop. Logos have to be vectorial, so Adobe Illustrator is your tool (or something that allows for vector graphics)

I prefer to use GIMP, it's free and does everything I need it to do! I use it for all my projects, whether it's web related or game modding.

Those are my choices. Photoshop and Illustrator if you can afford it or GIMP if you can't.

I use Inkscape vector graphic design and its free open source might be worth having a look at if on a budget

Photoshop is undoubtedly the best program for all kinds of graphic design needs. You can also try photoshop alternatives like GIMP and Photopea, both are free graphic design tools. Canva is free to use but the free version has a lot of limitations.

I used to use Gimp (although I've used PhotoShop prior as well), but I've become very much a fan of using Affinity. It depends on what you are using it for though - I do a lot of book formatting, and using Gimp when measuring out the spine of a book, etc., was always an unnecessary hassle - Affinity makes it easy.

I generally bounce between GIMP & PS depending on what I'm doing - can't beat PS' layer options. There's a python plugin available for GIMP that tries to do the same thing but it's a little wonky, and IIRC the results aren't as good as PS' native options.

I use Illustrator for most my graphics. It's pricy, but if you want to avoid paying then - like @Gh0st4unt3r mentioned - Inkscape is the best alternative out there.

I personally recommend Affinity Photo or Designer and Canva. But I can barely make a Stickman so it’s probably wise to just ignore me 😂

The more I use Canva, the more I feel that a lot of designing can be done for those who cannot afford the pricey software. I know how to do a lot of tricks because of Corel Draw, so I can use those to manipulate the elements on Canva and make them work for my needs.
