If your site uses a dark background, you should display your paragraph text in gray tint. This won’t put as much stress on the user’s eyes because gray text isn’t as bright as white text. It’ll reflect less light, making it easier to read. Keep in mind that if you’re reading text in a dark room where no light is present, white text on a black background isn’t as hard to read. This is because no light is reflecting off it in a dark room.

I've noticed the same on my forum:

Also, the text is too small. These things need to be fixed, text made bigger, and made a gray tint - like in my default old theme.

Yes, this is correct. I prefer lighter gray over a dark background, but there are very few use cases for solid white (#fff) or solid black (#000) text. And as I've mentioned before, grays should also be tinted toward the main color in a color palette.

I think what you have in your screenshot is ideal. What you have live currently is a bit too dark.

I made the text bigger now - but it's not brighter - but still looks good. The "big" makes up for the "bright".

Note, with it's bright - it seems to smudge on the page - making it worse to read.

You are correct that larger text improves readability; however, your text color and background color fail both WCAG AA and AAA contrast guidelines. A user with very good eyesight won't have much trouble reading your forums, but a user with poor eyesight will struggle. I would definitely recommend increasing the brightness of your text color to meet at least AA guidelines.

Made a little brighter:

Much better! Passes AAA now, as well. I would tint the post text color and thread title color slightly blue, but otherwise it looks great.

I like how it looks now! I do love dark themes compared to light ones.

I prefer the white text on the black background versus the gray text. To me, it's just easier to read.
