So I have come across some forum softwares that use the grid view, one in particular being the IP.Board Grid Layout:

And one of the new softwares coming out also uses a grid view, which can be shown here: http://discuss.flarum.org/tags

So my question is, are you on board with the new style of forum displays that are coming out, or are you still in liking with the normal list views like most forums use, (including here at FP.)

Personally I like the way it's shown, but it's different. When I imagine a forum I imagine a list of boards, not a grid like view of them. I'm not really fond of having it on my forum, nor really being on a forum with the grid view, however what is everyones thoughts?

Grid view is always better for browsers as it display is quiet organized and well categorized. But I prefer to go with list views as it saves browsers from less scrolling down the page and we can insert more information about the categories without squeezing the data.

Haven't really come across any forum that actually use the grid style yet, but it does have a visual appeal to it that I like, might be other drawbacks though.

Without having actually been on a board that use the grid style I can't really say which I prefer though, they both probably have their advantages.

I'm not a fan of the grid view honestly. I much prefer list view and I'm less likely to join a board that uses the grid style.

I don't like grid view, I often find it untidy and so stick with list view myself when creating forums and sometimes do not join forums that use a grid view.

I like both, but most of the forums I am on use the list view, save for a select few XenForo forums that have a grid style. I know some people like the grid style so I may offer a gridded theme in the future, but it's not a high priority.

I've always had a soft place in my heart for the grid view, but I'm not sure that I'd ever use it on a serious site. It's just a little bit too unconventional, you know what I mean? 😛

I really don't like forums that use grid view too much. I think they are an interesting concept and design style for sure, but they don't reallt spark my interest.
