Guest Forum

I am thinking about making a Forum Called Guest Nation. It would be a forum were only guests could post. I am just putting this here to get your feedback on if it would be a good idea?

Well, you still need to think of a genre for the forum, but an all guest forum could work, but you might get quite a few spam posts/people messing about posting things they shouldn't, so it has its positives and negatives.

I'm also considering this, but making it only viewable to guests and staff. I get alot of new members, who are completly new to foruming, and get confused at first.

I'd like to have a place where guests could ask questions before joining.

But, as CMM said, it does have it's negative side. you'll probably get people advertising their forums in their, and postingrandom spam, and probably post dogging out your forum, just cause some people are jerks like that.

The problem I see is it could easily become something like 4chan, unless that is your goal you'll need moderation. I believe you should probably have posts be first moderated by staff, otherwise you'll get tons of spam. I'd block images too. Good luck though, sounds like an interesting concept

Even if guests could only see it, what about registered users who haven't logged in?

I might make a guest forum sometime, but guests never really would use it.

I don't like this idea... I used to be a member of such a forum (it was a music forum) before the administrator went to paid hosting. You could post as any username you wanted, which invited posers, not to mention spam. We had people posing from anyone from Aaron Carter to someone pretending to be one of the Backstreet Boys... it wasn't pretty. So that's not a good idea unless you want posers, but that's my opinion.

As I see it, a forum exclusive to guests would be pointless and extremely difficult to moderate.

I never had a guest forum on my site, just don't think it's a great idea and I don't think it's needed.

I think its good to have one forum for guests to ask questions before registering, or if they have trouble registering they can ask for help there, but an only guest forum would, like people above said, attract a lot of spam 🙂

just make sure, you cant post links as a guest, that way you wont get links to porn and stuff

I do not believe in guests forums. You need registered users.
