Guestbook

I find they attract too much spam and take up valuable space.

Agreed. I would never implement that idea at all. There are enough spam problems out in the foruming world as it is.

That's pointless. If you moderate entries, it's not instant, which defeats the purpose.

They still get their comment posted. Which is what a guestbook is.

A guestbook is a paper or electronic means for a visitor to acknowledge their visitation to a site, physical or web-based, and leave their name, postal or electronic address (if desired), and a comment or note, if desired. ...

That's stupid. No one is going to use it more than once if they have to wait for their message to be posted. Just add a spam filter.

Well why would they use it more than once anyway? In weddings and such you don't sign the guestbook, come back five minutes later and sign it again.

And there really isn't a spam filter for this plugin.

You can easily add a filter using a code found online.

It's a site, not a wedding...

Kind of a pain for people.

I've seen many codes that hold back all posts that have X links. You can make it 1 link, so any post with a link will have to be approved.

Wordpress already has a first class spam prevention system. It already blocked like three spam posts. I haven't had a spam post got through the filter yet. Your blog ain't all that bigger than mine, so I doubt you'll get it any worse than I do.

But it's not going through the official blog/comment system so would the plugin still be supported?
