Gym?

Well I lost my Sauna / Steam Room virginity at the gym today. It was intense. It was sooooooo hot in there and the one guy in there who I was talking to showed me how to make it super steamy in there (to where you cant even see).. He got a bottle of water and poured it all over the parts that make the steam. I tried to sit in there for as long as I could but I could only last about 20 minutes. It did make my skin feel great though. Supposedly it opens up your pores or something... Not sure what sauna's do exactly but I liked it. 🙂

Before that I did a half hour on the treadmill and swam laps for a half hour... I am still sore from the intense workout with the trainer yesterday so I will take it easy until the soreness wears off. My lazy ass is not used to exercising yet. :O 😛

Congrats on the Gym membership!

There is nothing like the energy you gain from working out. We used to own a small building and rented space to a gym owner. So I used to work out for free all the time. Then we sold the building and I bought some misc at home gym equipment....nothing special outside of a really cool treadmill walker. I have also joined a local Taekowndo dojo. TKD really keeps me on my toes.

Is it fun to stay at the YMCA? 😛

Do you meet a lot of village people? 😛

Now that is something I want my gym to have. It helps me lose quick weight and feel so refreshed. I just can't last longer then 10 minutes  .

Our YMCA closed down. Funnily enough, the facilities are now owned by a gym. So you can still go there but you have to buy a membership. I think the YMCA was free.

I agree with Bono, I like to work out on my own. I do however go to the gym with my father once a week or so, and I have personal training sessions that one time.

Personal trainers are not just dumb cheerleaders, they really push you and they give you plans on what to do at home and make you work hard at the gym and not just slack off. It's sort of like a math tutor or a tutor of any kind.

Well thats all well and good but some of us can't afford it so we have to push ourselves with two little things called will-power and determination. 🙂 ...Thats free too.
Also you can get plans /advice / tips for free from books, internet articles and fitness-related forums.

Anyway this is what I did at the gym today (pulled off a topic on my forum):

Day 3 - August 5th 2010

  • 20 minutes on treadmill.. Slower speed (legs are sore).
  • 15 minutes on the machine.. Dont know the name.. You sit down, set the weight then you push the handles straight out. Works out the arms and chest..
  • 5 minutes of crunches..
  • 10 minutes of sauna (although I like the steam room better, I wanted to try out the sauna today)
  • 45 minutes of swimming laps one way then backstroke on the way back.

Home now and feeling good but a bit tired. 🙂

I've never seen a 200 dollar a month personal trainer... mine is 20 dollars per session so that's about 80 dollars a month.

The great thing about California is everything costs more than everywhere else. :shake:
