SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco has a long history of bold public health and environmental stances, going after everything from plastic bags in grocery stores to cigarettes to sugary drinks.
The latest target: Ronald McDonald.
A proposed city ordinance would ban McDonald's from putting toys in Happy Meals unless it adds fruit and vegetable portions and limits calories. The proposal would apply to all restaurants, but the focus has been on McDonald's and its iconic Happy Meals.
Supervisor Eric Mar said he proposed the law to protect the health of his constituents, but McDonald's has waged an aggressive fight to block the measure. A battery of McDonald's Corp. executives showed up at city hall to argue that the legislation is a heavy-handed effort that threatens the company's decades-old business model and the free choice of its customers.

What the hell California? Not only are you the home of the mafiaa, but now you target our toys? Everyone knows the point of the happy meal is the toy. What do you want me to do, get a Mighty Kids meal? Or are you bastards taking those toys away too.

It's hard for me to image McDonald's without toys...

Good thing I already got my Avatar action figures.
Screw that, they've got star wars and strawberry shortcake toys right now!

Please McDonald, don't give up, and do not even THINK about putting more fruit in happy meals, cheeseburgers and fries are a wonderful diet that should not be disturbed by these so called fruits.

As long as they don't take away my tasty trans fats in my two Big Macs and large order of fries (my blood pressure really loves all that sodium), I'm happy.

Name some restaurants that are better than McDonalds then. Panera? Not a chance. Applebee's? With a 900 Calorie dessert (yep folks, that's ONE serving), a Big Mac looks much better.
Even Subway has not so healthy choices.

Grilled Chicken Caesar salad + Apples + fruit and yogurt parfait + milk = 515 calories, 8.5 grams of fat. Only the veggie sandwich at Subway has less calories and three have less fat (footlong).

Polish KFC is better! (Yes Polish, or European. American is shit though 😛)

Dear Burger King,

Did I order a cheeseburger plain? No. Put some ketchup on it next time.

Love,

People who care about their health won't eat McDonald's anyway. I do think that healthy alternatives would be wonderful, but when they try to make the unhealthy food healthy, it does nothing but make it taste like crap for those of us who simply don't care. xD

Those were my thoughts exactly.

FYI, there are A LOT of people who eat McDonalds regularly that are completely healthy.

I never said that there aren't people who are able to do that and remain healthy. I'm saying that the food itself isn't healthy, and it may contribute to the decline of one's health. People who are health nuts generally would not be eating unhealthy food, and McDonald's serves fairly unhealthy food.

So does every other restaurant though. Most meals at chili's are around 1000 calories. I know on their so called "health section" of the menu, the foods there are around 750 calories. If you get yourself a standard meal at chilis and have 2 cokes, you're talking about 80 percent of the daily recommended amount of calories. People go rampant about McDonalds, but other restaurants are just as bad. That said, I don't agree with this law. I think the government should be there forcing these companies to warn the consumer in EVERY manner possible. I know at carvel now they put the amount of calories next to all of their foods on the menus when you walk in (like the things above the registers), that should be required at McDonalds and all those restaurants too. Mandating a restaurant to serve fruits and vegetables in order to sell toys is totally wrong and has no place in this country. No matter how liberal I am, that's excessive government intervention. That's not to say though the government should not be taking steps to WARN the consumer in EVERY WAY possible.

Niiiiiiiice. Kids who run lemonade stands should have the amount of calories, shouldn't they?

Restaurants are different from lemonade stands.
How? Define to difference to me legally. Both are selling food on private property.
