Do any of you have hard water? If you do, what do you do to fix the issue of it building up in pipes and drains?

With us, we have a water softener. What it basically is, is a timed pump that puts dissolved salt into the pipes of the house, making it so that the hard water doesn't ruin the pipes.

I laughed a little when I saw the title of this post, I was thinking, how can you have hard water? I'm fortunate where I stay, the water we have is pretty decent from the tap.

Yeah, I made the topic like that, to get people to not think, "Oh, just an another thread."

Though I do like the water here, it is the build up in the pipes that are used for stuff like the laundering and dishes that it really needs the help.

In London we have hard tap water. But, but in the north of England, a lot of the cities like Liverpool have softer water. When I was visiting Liverpool quite often, I began to get stomach aches every so often and I didn't realise at first why but I later came to the conclusion that it was the soft water that I drank with tea. My body just wasn't used to it.

We have hard water in London and there doesn't seem to have problems with the drains. I guess it is built to handle hard water since the whole city uses it.

I've always had a water softener so I don't really know what "hard water" tastes like.

I do not have hard water. I never use the water from the tap anyway. I use filtered water from my fridge.
