What's the hardest conversation you've ever had to have with someone?

Without a doubt breaking up with someone I was not happy with. He wanted me to stay and I let the relationship carry on far longer than I should have because he made all sorts of threats about ending his life if I left, but in the end I couldn't stay. It was just emotional blackmail because years later he met someone else and got married. It was a hard conversation though because I hate hurting people.

When my ex wife came to me wanting a divorce and me arguing that I didn't want things to end. It was very hard for me to accept at the time. But I'm glad I finally did.

I have two conversations in mind that were the most difficult in my life. The first was when my daughter had an eating disorder and we were in the living room looking out the big picture window and she said, "Tell me how I used to be?" And then it led into the conversation of how I just wanted her to eat to feed her brain and get back into thinking like she used to. Anorexics starve their brains and they aren't thinking clearly because of it. The brain needs nourishment. I remember begging her to eat and even offered to pay her.

The other hardest one that comes to mind is when my mom was in the hospital and waited for me to get there before telling us she was ready to get off all the machines and die. There was no hope of saving her and it was just prolonging her for days or weeks and that wasn't fair to her because she was in extreme pain. I told her I understood and she knew I would be the one to tell my sister.

Did she finally get over her disorder? Some of the women I've dated said they used to be anorexic and bulimic and even showed me pictures of when they were 90 lbs to 100 lbs. My current girlfriend claims it's because of her ex husband and her father's abusive behavior towards her that made her depressed and not want to eat.

I'm very sorry for your loss. That must have been very difficult. I don't know how I'd get over it. I know this one guy where I live. We attended the same high school. His father died. He gave up on everything and became an alcoholic. All he does is drink now and when I ran into him he was buying vodka. He says it helps him cope with his loss.

YES my daughter recovered! She switched from seeing the "pro" who was a psychiatrist who specialized in eating disorders who told her that she would be seeing her every week for 6 years to a Christian therapist who worked on relationships and in 2 years she was back to a healthy weight and pushed out those thoughts that consumed her need for control. Thank you 🙂
