Was anyone in the marching band or even the concert one? Anyway, for my drumming forum, I would like to have a lot of cadences (videos and transcriptions) on there. Those are basically drumming section songs that a marching band plays when going out on the field, a preamble to the main show.

That sounds like a unique forum that would please a specific group of people. I'd say go for it. Niche-based communities tend to succeed more than generalized communities. 🙂

I haven't been in a marching band myself. But it brings back memories of when my friends were in a marching band club at school. Ah, fun times.

There is some confusion about whether cadences have copyrights on them. I mean, I'd like to have a whole library of them on the forum.

Yeah, it was definitely like living in another world or dimension, just like the 1950s were to my parents.

That's odd. I've heard the opposite.

Niche-based forums are harder to build and requires a little more patience to get targeted traffic. (Even FP is a little more on the specific side.) But if you keep working at it, visitors on niche-based forums tend to be more dedicated, and thus ensure longer-term success of the forum.

People didn't like our marching band instructor. He was one of those "tough love" types. However, I think he meant well but was misunderstood. 🙁 :wtf:

Last week I was in the province and there was this marching that I find unique because there were 4 majorettes and only 6 musicians. My companions were laughing because our impression is that they lacked budget. I think there were 3 trumpets or bugle, whatever you call it, one big drum and 2 small drums. But when they played, gee, it was pretty good, I mean the music was stirring.

I was always fascinated by the bass drum section - of which I played my senior year. You cannot replicate that stuff on drumset, even a double bass only does so much.

Lacking a budget can be a problem, but let's not be so shallow.
