Spaceship is the latest and greatest domain registrar to hit the market. NameCheap introduced this new brand just a few months ago. Has anyone tried it yet? They've got some of the cheapest renewal/transfer prices on the market right now. Seems like they're really trying to entice folks to move over.

I've been a Namecheap customer for years but was not aware of Spaceship. Just had a look through their site and it looks great. I'm not sure why Namecheap would offer a new platform that basically offers the same services as they do - i.e. domains and hosting. It seems strange that they just didn't rebrand themselves. The hosting plans look like good value and I will certainly keep it in mind.

I have used Namecheap myself in the past but this is the first time I have heard of Spaceship. I am curious though so will be taking a look and being it has been introduced by Namecheap, my guess is it if safe.

How long has the web host been in business? Have they changed management/ownership in that time or, more importantly, recently?

I always look for a few things: reliability, support/knowledge, price - you get what you pay for really.

I never used them, I do not think that I would to be honest

To be honest when I saw this, I thought you where talking about an actual spaceship 😅

A good host will get back to you with in 1 hour. If they respond quickly, is the reply friendly, does it answer all your questions and is personal? If so you can move onto the next step. Go for a medium sizes web host and I guarantee they will provide more personal help and be more willing to assist you in your needs.

You need to choose a hosting provider whose data center is geographically close to your target audience.
Also choose a host that is fairly close to you, since you'll be the one accessing the hosting the most.

Namecheap owns them?
That’s correct, it’s a sub company under the Namecheap
Umbrella.

Namecheap, the world’s second-largest domain registrar and a top web service provider, today celebrates one year since the beta launch of its next-generation web services platform, Spaceship. At its core, Spaceship seamlessly helps its users effortlessly launch their website, ideas, and future – all on a digital platform built to provide and connect domains, hosting, email, and all the web tools needed to give each user total control.
In its first year, Spaceship has more than 750,000 domains under management and 400+ domains available for registration. Additionally, it offers a variety of web hosting options, including shared and managed WordPress hosting and its awesome ‘Spacemail’ professional email. Many more features, tools, and services are planned. That’s why Spaceship is launching its new customer-centered “Spaceship Unseen” campaign dedicated to those who are helping shape the way people build, grow, and manage their online presence. For more information, check out www.spaceship.com/unseen/.
Spaceship’s remarkable Unbox™ feature is the technical magic that brings everything together to give customers total control. Done behind the scenes, this useful management system does much more than configure and connect all web tools and services. Users can even add new tools and services later as they grow, unlocking the true potential of the digital set-up and website.

@Gizmo recently purchased hosting from Spaceship. I wonder how they compare to Namecheap's own hosting. I tried Namecheap's hosting in the past and it was okay but the stats on either my Xenforo or UBB.Threads forum took a bit to update iirc.

I've had my hosting for about a month and I'm enjoying it. Very little downtime.

The only downside is that they don't have a proper support ticket system so you have to email them every time you need something. I prefer a ticket system where you can view all your previous ticket history.

Apart from that I'm extremely happy with the service.

I do hope in time that they decide to do reseller hosting though.
