Has Country Music sold out?

Some people like Hank III, real name Shelton Williams, think this is the case. People who object to the new country claim it's lame and uninspired. They object to hip-hop and pop in it. In fact, they claim it's mostly just country pop that is called country - which is a sort of lying to the public.

Myself, I don't think it's terrible music or wimpy or something, but it's just its own thing, it's not country music. It is sort of good pop music, but it does give the impression of being afraid to say anything bold and rebellious, but that's not the point of ALL music.

I like some country music. But not all of it. I think it runs the spectrum like every music genre in the field. You have your good artists and you're really bad and annoying artists.
