Have you had members tell you which direction they'd like to see your site go, and then it didn't really boost the site at all? In fact, maybe it made the site worse? Have you had that happen where members were wrong about what they thought the site needed or what they wanted?
When I had a gaming forum, there was discussion of making it general which I did seeing as how the gaming genre wasn't working out. In this case it actually did work out and I'm glad I listened.
I was part of another forum that was also for gaming but some of the more active members wanted it to be more specific to online gaming (instead of general like it was). The forum went in that direction but it did little to boost activity and those that weren't into online gaming didn't have much to say and left. And when those active members started leaving, the forum ended up becoming inactive.
I've never had this happen to any of my forums before. Honestly if I did get feedback like this, I might give it a try and if the direction they wanted the forum to go didn't benefit it, I'd just go back to how things were before.
I had ideas and suggestions but not to the point that it wanted to pop 😛 I have not had that and most of those members who have made ideas are those who are into Websites and also have own site...
This has never happened to me, I have owned niche forums and my members knew pretty well about the niche. Those who did not know much about the niche, went away
