In the past I have been offered a price for my forum. I never think I was ever offered a good price because whatever price someone offers you, you will think that your forum is worth more. However recently, I have been offered a pretty good price for my forum but unfortunately, I had to decline it.
I have been offered money for a couple of forums I have owned previously, but it never seemed to be worth it, since even at a low ball park figure for just the post and topic count, they never seemed to want to offer enough for just that alone.
I was offered $120 for my old forum once, I wouldn't accept tho cuz It felt wrong since i built the community from the ground up and put so much time and money into the site.
I was offered a fairly average figure by at least one person, and was in negotiations with others... but they all kind of fell through. The first figure was too low, the others I was negotiating with lost interest before a price could be agreed.
I was offered 45 a few years back for my site. It was a forum, but the use just wanted the domain. I sold it, it was a pretty good deal if i say so. The forum wasn't active at all-- if anything it was basically neglected. 😛
I think that like a lot of people, I've been offered a price that was decent, but when you considered the amount of time I've spent plus the potential for a year down the line it was as if I was being paid less than minimum wage!
Plus I'd invested so much time that it was like a child to me and I couldn't sell that unless it was for a crazy amount.
I wasn't owner (only staff) at the time, but The Nerd Domain received an offer at $320, which I was pretty impressed about. The staff didn't consider it though because we loved the community.
I was offered a price for domain and software, but not the forum itself. I was kind of weird actually. 😛 I ended up selling it and I got to keep the database, so in a way it was kinda a win win situation.
