There's a time to hire a staff member in a forum and there's also a time to dismiss a staff. Have you had to deal with dismissing any of your staff members? What was the reason why you had to dismiss your staff?

If the staff was hired on a paid position, how did he or she take the dismissal?

I think that most of the time the reasons staff had to be let go was for inactivity. There have been other times and it was for the security of the site.

One time a staff member went off the deep end. She was super-sensitive about a particular topic, and she was bashing everyone who disagreed with her, using language and behavior that we wouldn't even tolerate from a regular member. We tried to discuss her behavior tactfully in the hidden Mod forum, but then she turned on the rest of the Staff in the same manner. She went straight from Moderator to Banned.

Others were for inactivity.

What was the topic?

What was the topic?

It's a religious community. The topic was "Is it appropriate for a Christian to work in an slaugherhouse?" When other members started saying it was an individual choice, or "yeah, so what" or "yeah, why not" she went flew off the handle. Turns out she was a vegan. The topic drifted into hunting, with several members saying that they hunt and process their own meat at home. She then raged about how a "real Christian" would never own a firearm and that if you have to have meat that's what a grocery store is for, and even then you were a bad person for buying meat.

We tried to counsel her that the community members responses were right, and that while she's entitled to feel the way that she does, she was in the wrong. Then she started calling out the entire Staff publicly for "not being real Christians" because we supported hunting and eating meat.

This didn't span much time before we tired of it and realized she wasn't moderator material. Since her comments were very much in violation of the membership policy we banned her. The rest of the Staff were pretty offended with the way she spoke to us and the community.

Ah, okay, I have a vegan on Christianity Haven and although he often flames on some topics, he's not that rude with his veganism from what I recall. He isn't staff material though.

I wish your staffer would have taken a good look at the Old Testament more to see how she was wrong.
