Have you ever had a situation where you had to be the moderator of staff members not getting along or being able to work together?

Tell us about how this went and how you resolved it?

Matter of fact yes it was around 2013 and at the time or was it very active member. The owner of the website decided to make me as a mod even though the permissions were limited. It lasted around good 3 to 4 years but at the time I'm it was another staff member who we are best mates with and that's how I got in little bit easier in that regards. The owner in myself never really got along or in fact we even known each other then again he wasn't very active owner at the time. It wasn't it was until him and the other staff member had a fight he then changes software are earning any made me the full full power of a full ownership which I rejected. The nights later you remove me from the site and then six months down the road the site was pooped. It's quite a long story but I believe already mentioned this in another topic in on that note I am using text to speech pretty cool so hopefully it did it correctly.

Yes, I've had to moderate staff and it can be a difficult situation since you want that person to know what they did wrong but you also want that person to change his ways and not do it again. And then, if he's really good, you want him to stay on as staff. Everyone messes up. Everyone commits a rule violation at some point so we have to know when to forgive.

Once, which was when a moderator began trying to control other members through threats of suicide, threatening messages, and bringing in relatives to back them up. Being a moderator didn't necessarily result in the behaviour but it was definitely used to bolster their tactics by using it as a position of power to abuse. There was a lot more to it all than this, but any attempt to moderate them was just met with "no one likes me should I kill myself?" polls which at the time myself and no one else wanted to shut down or ignore because of not knowing how serious it really was. Eventually I realised that the only way to stop it all was to bite the bullet, ban them entirely, and ignore any suicidal messages by hoping I was correct to assume they were never serious about it and were using it purely as a control technique. It turned out that they were, and after even having to log in as other members on IM programs to sever his ties with them (a few were not as comfortable as I was with refusing to bow to another threat of suicide or were afraid of abusive messages) I managed to remove him and any connections he had with my community and everyone on it. It is by far the most toxic thing I have ever had to deal with and the only time I've had a staff member require any intervention from me, and I would like to hope it was just the attention seeking attitude of a young teenager in a community of other young teenagers versus a young teenager who is actually an abusive scumbag that is fully aware of what they are doing and gets off on it.

My forums are small, with few members. I never have been in a position to moderate my own staff.
