Have you ever missed the window of opportunity to be on staff but something came up and you were absent and couldn't be on to accept? A good example is a few days? Sick? Called into work? Internet issues?
I have. Seems every time and opportunity on a forum opens up. I miss it in the days that I'm either gone or the time I'm not on. I recently had an opportunity and some things came up and I wasn't around to accept it. I'm just guessing I wasn't meant to have that position than. I'm not sore about it. It happens. Things happen. Life happens.
Nope, I have not had this happen so far. I'm always usually around some sort of electronic devices even if if nots a computer and if something might come up I'll check in wherever.
I don't hesitate to accept it, that I missed many times in life, and I regret it. But what can I do? like during my sports meets in my college days, I got injured just one day before.
The main competition of my niche put a 'for sale' sign up on their forum. I assumed they wanted too much. A member of my forum encouraged me to ask about the price. I did so. The price wasn't bad but it was still fairly high.
I took the risk and bought out and acquired my competition even though my forum was way more active than their forum but still my activity was decreasing each day.
Since the acquisition, I've gained more than 50,000 posts and more than 3,000 more members and my forum is now more active than it ever has been. I am now the main competition of the niche and no other forum is even close to beating me.
It was an almost missed window of opportunity but a forum member drove me to not miss it 🙂
Lesson here...listen to your members, give them what they want and everything will work out great!
I'm always doing allot for members then myself, and I listen to my members too, I do allot of giveaways and i do spend way to many hours on my forum. I spend till 2 or 3am working on exchanges or what I have to do it keep the forum working and going.
I (most of us) spent allot to run website (s) and it's not easy when cash is going out and no cash coming in.
