I have been running websites since 2015. Currently, I own over a dozen websites Some of my websites have a shop section where I sell digital products. I sell ebooks, digital art, photographs, courses, etc.

One, Just sold one game item 🙂 And still listed many more and half the time most people do not even know about it even though there is a link in the heading. Buy games at a stock price and sell them, Money comes in if people buy them from me 😛

Have you tried using your shop page as the home page? This can help if you have organic traffic on the site.

Nope, I never have. I can add it though 🙂 that is a good idea.

I think the game is a good niche for affiliate marketing, have you tried to monetize through affiliate ds.

I sell Itineraries in digital form for tourism, lodging, and dining focused on outdoor recreation in my area. My rates start at $25 and up.

I've sold a few now and really enjoy it.

I have never really attempted to sell digital products on any of my websites other than membership upgrades on some forum websites that I have owned. However, I decided to up my portfolio, and I opened Posting Bay, I now sell digital services but not a specific product lol.

I sell ebooks
Could you please share a little more info on that? Are they ebooks you have written yourself? If not, how does it work for you, e.g. are you promoting them as an affiliate or are you taking a share of the revenue?

I haven't sold many digital products, most of my site revenue comes from advertising. I have sold membership upgrades, but not very much at all.

I write and sell my own ebooks, however, I have also sold ebooks written by other writers. I hire ghostwriters to write ebooks. Since I have full rights, every penny made by these books is mine. Sometimes I make profits from these books and sometimes it is a bargain of loss.

Thanks very much for your reply nomad, that's interesting, well done. Is it possible to share links to your sites where you are selling those books? Obviously I understand if it is confidential.

On my blog, I could sell e-books digitally. I don't know that I could sell anything else, at least not anything that makes sense for my site. Not unless you would count a membership with special benefits or something like that.

I create smaller eBooks and sell them.

Smaller as in 5,000 to 10,000 words max.

I choose a $6.99 price markup structure.

They pay and get a download link for the PDF.

I also create PDF-based itineraries for local tourism in my area. I have two tiers. $25 for the basic (hiking trails, dining, sightseeing) and $50 for the premium (hiking trails, dining, sightseeing, lodging, and best places for cheaper gas/groceries)

The trick is adding value and not charging an arm and a leg.

I follow the concept that I give away more than I sell and return, I make more.

I think creating smaller e-books for me to sell on my blog is probably the way to go.

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of e-books do you write and sell?

Currently, they're focusing on local hiking trails. Now with that, I have the authority of knowing these trails because I am a local influencer for area hiking. I've developed trust within the community. I just get really detailed with the eBooks so that they get a bang for the buck.

I'm working on some digital marketing eBooks for my other niche. I've not got too far on them yet. One will be given away for free to email list subscribers and after I develop an audience, I'll start launching paid ones.

Thank you for replying to my question. It sounds like you are selling to a particular audience or staying within the niche` of your site. That's not a bad idea to do that.

Definitely being very niche about it. And focusing on the topics I know a lot about.

In the past i sold digital music on my site on behalf of artists and producers, at this moment in time im building software to be released in future 🙂

Don't you think you are charging too much for an ebook between 5000-10000 words? Do you really get sales for this kind of price markups? My ebooks are priced $2.99 on Amazon, on my website, I charge just $1 and still don't get a lot of sales.

I guess it depends on what you're trying to sell.

My eBooks are hiking guides with tons of information in them. Not just information about the trail - but nearby lodging, places to eat, shopping, etc.

I charge $50.00 for the itinerary planning for that same concept.

Sometimes I think people undercharge for their work. Take pride in what you write rather than an easy couple of dollars.

My opinion at least.
