HawkHost

Hawk host is cheap but Empire Hostings is cheaper. They have unlimited cpanel hosting for just $4.99 and they also sell cheap domains.

Namecheap has cheap domains and you get one year free whois guard when you buy the domain but you must buy it after the one year.

Do you use them?

Name cheap seems good, I might try and buy a few domains and sell them off, I think I have a good name,

Your gonna want to think about bandwidth. With HostGator, you get unlimited bandwidth per month for $4.95 and for HawkHost, you get around 30 GB per month for $4.95. I know a guy that runs a image site and he uses over 100 GB per month. Imagine how much bandwidth forums can use.

Ok, But Hawks support seems to be great! Does anyone know how much bandwidth a forum would use? Thanks,

It really depends. For my forum, last month I have only used a couple GB BUT when you forum gets big, it will eat up A LOT of bandwidth. Bandwidth is measured by how much traffic you get.

Ok, But Hawk would be good to start and if It gets big I would put more money in.

- NetFirms has free whois guard. There's a $4.95 coupon domain for a .com somewhere right now.

I personally lost most of my confidence with HawkHost. Like Fowler and this forum having problems in speed,

What I had in Hurricane was a lot more ridiculous. Server Load used to be pretty ridiculous and despite whatever optimization I would do, it was still pretty slow at times, with PHP or MySQL often taking several seconds to generate data, alone. This on both a 100k ish MyBB forum and a 2k ish XenForo forum (though the XenForo one has more been a less responsive jQuery and whatnot than anything). Generally, my dealings with the support have been good, but they don't seem to want to disclose much about this whole thing, and they've been giving me quite the impression that they load quite a lot of people on their servers.

Be wary of sites that claim to offer unlimited bandwidth. Once your website begins using "too many recourses" they can cancel your account at their discretion. Hawk host doesnt oversell, the average forum rodent use more than like 8 gb of bandwidth but once u get that popular youre better off getting a vps anyway 🙂

I honestly do not like HawkHost.
You dont like a reliable host? 😛
No, I like a host who is more reliable, cheaper, and provides better support :great:
Ive used them for a couple years now and they are very reliable (very minimal downtime and fast browsing speeds) & support tickets are answered in a matter of minutes and they always make sure any problems I have are resolved quickly. 😉

Compared too if your server goes down your site is digitally mirrored to another in seconds, a 24 7 online chat and call, and just being plain awesome 😛

They do. But they have a lot of space per server.
