Hi, newbie here.
I stumbled across this site while looking for tips on getting a forum off the ground in this day and age. We once had the luxury of a 14 year old site with a number 1 google ranking for the term "anime forums." That site was sold after 13 years of being in the hands of competent staff who cared about the forum. It took the new owners 1 year to kill what was so lovingly cared for by the volunteer admins and moderators for so many years. Due to numerous terrible servers via many botched server migrations by the new people, the site was offline more than online. Our once active forum became a shell of it's former self, inaccessible to most. It is now gone, most likely forever.
We, the volunteer staff, bought a new domain several months ago, and started a campaign and crowdfunded to get a new forum off the ground. We now have a small forum up and running that is about 5 weeks old. 160 members (a far cry from the 120k of the previous site). We are working hard to rebuild, but we know that things are not quite as clear cut as they were 14 years ago.
Anyway, that's why I am here. To learn what I can to get our community back on the map. 🙂
